Q?

…What is the Taíno Museum ?

A.

Since near 50 years, Kathy Dicquemare (80+) has bring together more than 5,000 pre-Columbian artifacts, the majority of which are Taíno pan-Caribbean archaeological objects from Haiti. This is from far the first unique Private Collection on Taíno People up to now.

Since 2009, Kathy has create the KATHY DICQUEMARE FOUNDATION, a non profit organisation. The main purpose of the foundation is to build the first national Taíno Museum to share this collection with the public.

Q?

…Where is the museum?

A.

The Museum is hosted inside the Cormier Beach Resort area, North of Haiti.

The Taíno museum in Haiti will be built in the middle of a tropical garden, respecting the environment in which the Taíno people lived before the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492. For obvious safety reasons (tsunami, earthquake), the museum will be farther from the sea that houses the hotel but easily accessible.

Q?

…How much money are you looking to build the museum?

A.

The total cost of the museum is around $900,000.

$300 000 is still missing to build the Museum in a safe and accessible environment and to preserve the collection.

We work hard to balance the budget. This website has been created to collect donations. We are partnering with museum around the world to help us based on their expertise and knowledge. In couple of months, Taino Museum will start a crownfunding campaign in partnership with indiegogo.com.

$1 or more, we thank you for your precious help.

Q?

…How to visit the museum?

A.

Since the earthquake struck Haiti in 2010, the country is in total reconstruction. The international community and the Haitian government members invest time and money to make Haiti a new destination in the Caribbean.

The Taino museum benefits from this craze. The museum is easily accessible for visitors coming to Cap Haitian, those arriving by boat on the beaches of Labadie 5 minutes by car.

The website's mission is to refer to the daily actions of the museum in Haiti but also worldwide.
