Shamans were individuals incharge of communicating with the gods, in order to predict the future, help the people to take group decisions and healing ailments. Shamans looked to obtain positive qualities from animals which would help them communicate with the gods during their visionary trips. We know of masks that were decorated with animal figures on the forehead, small faces with a mixture of human and animal facial features and similar representations but these skulls are, apparently unique and thus it has been impossible to correlate them with any cultural groups.
